Purple
Purple
The colour of my pencil sharpener eating my pencil short,
The last colour of the rainbow but yet one of the prettiest,
Jewelry dangling from my wrists, neck and ears,
A felt pen drawing on my piece of paper,
Similar to pink but a little bit better,
Posters hanging around the classroom,
Artwork pinned tight to the wall,
Happiness and joy,
There’s lots of purple of in the world, just look closely and you’ll find it.

The blue sky hanging over me,
Rivers flowing below my feet,
My mouth is open as raindrops drip on my tongue,
Bluebells blooming and swaying with the wind,
Sadness and joy rushing through me,
Blue whales talking to one another,
Swimming in the deep blue sea,
Crayons scribbling circles multiple times on my piece of paper,
Balloons floating higher and higher,
A pretty blue rose all over the garden,
The Blue Man Group making paint explosions,
There are lots of blue in the world, you just have to look around.

How Rainbows Came To Be!

Have you ever wondered how rainbows take their form in the sky.Well this is a story on how the colourful rainbows came to be.
Once upon a time before the gummy bears and the dinosaurs ever existed in our world and leprechauns and pink fluffy unicorns were living on earth a little leprechaun called Rainbow went for a journey through the forest all by himself…
Rainbow walked and walked through the forest and passed lots of unicorns and stopped to say hello to some of his friends.He kept on walking but he got a bit tired so he stopped and he looked up and saw a giant magical thing that looked a bit like a TOADSTOOL!!! Little Rainbow was told to never go near a toadstool.People said that if you touch a toadstool you will some kind of dangerous magical power, well at least people say dangerous but it could be just a normal magical power that can grant your wishes or something, but no one knows because everybody is too scared to even go near a toadstool.Little Rainbow thought he could be a hero and be the first to touch a toadstool but what if it could be dangerous.What would his parents say if he disobeyed them.He was scared but he made his mind up.He was gonna touch it.He reached his hand out and TOUCH! He touched the toadstool.He felt a slight chill down his body.He felt a bit different like he could do so much more. The powers that the toadstool gave him was eternal life, the ability of flight, super speed and strength and there was one other thing that he couldn’t quite work out.He felt a bit sick.BLEH! Something colourful came out of his mouth.Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple all came out of his mouth.It floated higher and higher until it reached the sky so high.He couldn’t wait to go back to the village and tell everybody about his new power.
Meanwhile back in the village all the leprechauns looked up in the sky and they saw the colourful thing sitting in the sky.They wondered what had caused it to appear like that out of the blue.All the unicorn flew up to the magical thing in the sky and started dancing well down below all the leprechauns were were dancing as well. They had never seen anything like it.Little Rainbow came back to the village and saw everyone dancing and went to go join them. He told them of his adventure through the forest and everybody congratulated him and kept on celebrating.They called the colourful magical thing in the sky a Rainbow.
Nowadays Rainbow is still alive and and when he likes the weather outside he spews up another Rainbow for all of us to enjoy.

How pineapples became in existence!
Have you ever wondered how pineapples became a fruit?Well if you are interested this is a story on how the juicy yellow sometimes sour pineapple became a fruit.
Once upon a time long ago before pineapples ever existed and gummy bears took over earth from the dinosaurs, there were these animals called the hiyuty.They were the second rulers of the earth.One day the sun came too close to the earth the gummy bears started melting and the hiyutys started to burn.When the sun finally drifted away ashes from the hiyutys lay all around and the melted gummy bears pushed the ashes into the ground and things started to grow out of the ground.little green things.They were everywhere. Because of the melted gummy bear they were growing like crazy.These brownie green things were coming out of the other planty things.A creature called the gofter came from the sun and came over to one of these things and cut it in half.It was yellow and there was juice spilling out of the centre.The creature ate it.He called for the rest of his kind.They all came out of their hiding places.The gofters celebrated because they finally found a place where they can grow their fruit.They screamed something that sounded a bit like PINEAPPLE, so that it what they called their fruit.
So this is the story on how pineapples came to existence.If you were wondering what happened to the gofters, well they all died and a new life form came to earth.

Kapiti Island
Have you ever wondered how a beautiful island filled with trees and bushes like when your mum puts too much broccoli on your plate.Birds and animals feeling free to do what they want. The sun gazing on the dark blue water surrounding the island. A fantabulous place to visit that we now call Kapiti Island came to be? Well this is a story about a new zealand tribe called Ngati Haua just off the kapiti coast created their own island.
One day men from the new zealand tribes Ngati Haua and Ngati Tama went fishing to feed their whole tribe.They each threw down their nets then ran across the beach.They ran about 10 metres down and the men from Ngati Haua bumped into the men from Ngati Tama.When they bumped into each other all the fish that were in the net scattered back out into the ocean.All the men started arguing and blaming each other.The men from Ngati Tama told the men from Ngati Haua they were never allowed to go fishing in that area again.The men from Ngati Haua disagreed and all the men went back their tribes complaining.Ngati Haua Chief made a plan to build their own island that they can live on and they will never have to bump into Ngati Tama ever again.The only problem was how were they gonna build their own island?They went looking for things that might make and island until one tribal member had a suggestion to cut off some of the land then push the piece of land out into the water.They went looking for something sharp enough and strong enough that might cut through the land.They whole tribe went looking then one small tribal member saw these ginormous boulders that they can drop in a line on the land where they want to cut it.The strong men carried the boulders over to the place they wanted to cut.They all dropped the boulders at the same time and the earth broke.They pushed the piece of land out into the ocean it floated out then it stopped it has stayed in that place.The tribe couldn’t believe it, they has created their own island.The tribe sailed their boats over to the island to celebrate.Ngati Tama saw Ngati haua and they got very jealous.Ngati Tama tried to create their own island but they failed.Instead they created this big earthquake.The ground shook.Trees fell and Ngati Tama ran.They grabbed their boats and sailed over to the new island.Ngati Haua were mad.They saw Ngati Tama coming and they were ready to shoot.Ngati Tama begged to come onto the island.The two tribes made a deal.Ngati Haua and Ngati Tama both got half of the island each.They did lots of fishing and there was no more fighting between the two of them and they lived forever happy.
For those who were wondering this is how Kapiti Island Came to be.And when you go there you might still see the two tribes nets floating in the water.

How dinosaurs arrived and left earth!
Far away in another galaxy there were these green-faced creatures called dinosaurs. One day a dinosaur made a bet to a 3-faced alien on which team would win the rugby. The dinosaur bet the All Blacks and the Alien bet on the Crusaders. The person who lost the bet would have to take their kind and go to another galaxy and never return. Unfortunately the All Blacks lost the game so the dinosaur lost the bet. He got the rest of the dinosaurs and the terrordactyls flew them to another galaxy.
They landed on a random planet that they have never seen before. It was shining blue water and light green grass and with a touch of bright white cloud. They had never seen anything like it. There were so many beautiful trees and plants. Flowing waterfalls and lots of rivers. It was so beautiful they would never want to leave. They scared off every living creature they found.
After centuries and centuries the dinosaurs started to die off and a new life had formed. The Humans! This orange thing also started to form. They weren’t sure what it was because it didn’t look like a human. It was called a Donald Trump! Donald Trump scared off the dinosaurs all the way over to a planet we call Mars. Unfortunately Donald Trump still lives today and scientists’ research is correct, there is life on Mars and the dinosaurs that we thought were extinct are indeed alive.

One day a whale was cold in the water so he walked along side the water to find a warm spot to lie on.He climbed on these rocks then lay down and the rocks smashed and scattered everywhere.He didn’t like the fact thathe wasn’t high on rocks the water came and splashed him so he moved along the water to find some more rocks to lie on.He kept climbing on rocks and they kept smashing until all the rocks along the water were smashed.He was still cold but what he didn’t know was that the sun was drying him out.When he tried to get back to the water to go find some more rocks on another beach he stopped.He couldn’t move.He yelled Help Help until this little girl heard and people came to push the whale back in the water.Today whales still try to find somewhere warm that is why we have lots of beached whales.

What Power Would You Choose?
If you were to have ! super power what would you choose?Lazer eyes or fireballs out of your hands.
Some say that night vision is the best superpower because being able to see in the dark helps you do many things like sneak ice cream in the middle of the night without waking up anybody else.But others say that super speed is the best power because you can get places faster and it is almost like you are in two places at once.
Some say that super strength is the best power you can have because you can control some things and you can save the world or at least a lot of people that are stuck under things.Others say that x-ray vision is the best superpower to have because you can see pretty much everything and if there is a suspicious locked door you can see what's really behind it.
Some say that time travel is the best power because you can go back and fix the mistakes that you or someone else made and you can reveal the true secret about anything.Others say that flying is the best ability because it feels like freedom.

Would you prefer having a sibling or being an only child?
Some say being an only child can be lonely so they wish they had a sibling to play with.Others say that having siblings can be annoying and they wish they were and only child.
Some say that being an only child is fun because you get everything and you don’t have to share it with anybody.Others say they are glad to have a sibling because you can pay them to do your chores.
Some say that being an only child is an advantage because you don’t have someone screaming at you all the time.Others say that having a sibling is fun because you can annoy them.
Being a younger sister I can’t imagine life without my big sister.I prefer having a sibling.

Why I Think I Should Be The Class Librarian.
I would like to be the class librarian because I like to have the opportunity to make sure everyone in my class gets a book out each week so they can enjoy the library books at our school.I am happy to work on a computer and don’t mind missing out on some of my reading time for others.I have only done the job once and it wasn’t for long.I think it is unfair that the same people get to do it every year.I am responsible and kind with people and books.I also haven't had many opportunities to help at the school so I would love to do this job.I have watched so many people have chances to help others and I never get picked to do anything.I would love to do this job but if you don’t pick me I will just be missing out on another opportunity to help others.

Prince Caspian
This book is about 4 children called Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy.After they left Narnia in the “Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe”the Telmarines took over Narnia and Miraz became king.
As for Caspian (Miraz’s nephew) was threatened to death when queen Prunaprismia had a baby, so he ran away.
When he was in the mountains he found 2 dwarfs and a talking badger.
As the time went on there were many battles between the Beasts and Telmarines, but when things got really bad he decided to blow the horn that his tutor gave to him before he left.
That is what brung Peter, Susan,, Edmund and Lucy into the story.When they came into Narnia they found themselves on a little island with the ruins of the old castle Cair Paravel.
Later on they found the dwarf that Caspian met, in the water because the Telmarines wanted him to drown.They got him out and he explained all about how he got there and about Caspian.
With all the information that they knew they set off to find Caspian and the others in the mountains.It was a long and hard journey but they got there in the end.
When they got there they made plans to put caspian into the rightful place of the throne.They were talking for hours but they came up with a plan to have a combat with the Telmarines so they sent Edmund, Glenstorm and Wimbleweather To deliver the letter to Miraz.
Later on the combat started and as everyone would of guessed High King Peter won the battle.Soon after the battle Aslan told the Telmarines to go back to their home town and caspian became Prince of Narnia.
I really enjoyed this book because I love adventure books and because the Narnia series are really fun to read.I think this book is suitable for people who like adventure and battles.

Sport Or No Sport
Sports or
No Sports
In schools there are lots of things children learn like math and spelling but they don’t always get opportunities to do sport.Teachers like Mrs Lumsden and Mrs Williams take us out for sport but not enough.
Some say children don’t need P.E at school because we have sport in the weekend but others disagree.Others say we need P.E at school because after school sport is only 1 or 2 days a week and that isn’t enough.
Some say that if you go outside too much you will get Melanoma.Others say that if you don’t do sport you will be obese.
Some say mental education is more important than physical but doctors say you need physical education because it keeps your heart running and is healthier.
I think that we need not too much more sport but enough to keep everyone healthy.

Whareroa Farm
On Friday the 17th June room 6 and room 18 travelled by bus to Whareroa Farm to learn more about the water cycle.
The bell rang at 9 0’clock to call us back to class.Me and my friends ran back to class to call the roll.Mr Corlett called the roll and we scrambled onto the bus.It was very crowded so me and my friends couldn’t sit together.It was a loud trip but we got there in the end.We some how got off the bus without tripping over to get into our groups.I was in group A with my bffpb’s Georgia and Cara.The lady who runs the farm told us about the farm and the boundrys.When she finished talking we went off to our first activity.
First my group went up a hill but we stopped before we got to the top.We stopped because we saw a midden.We talked about what a midden is and why it was there.Then we got to the top of the hill and we talked about catchments.Mr Corlett and Mike asked us quetions about catchments like, “what is the biggest catchment in the world?”We looked around at the beautiful view.I got to take a couple of pictures.We started walking down and we saw group B doing our next activity.
We got to the bottom of the hill and we went back to the shed to talk to Sancia about the water testing.We filled in our sheets and headed outside.I paired up with Georgia.We headed to the river and I filled up the container with water and Georgia caught the bugs.We scooped up bugs and looked at them through magnifying glasses.I think me and Georgia caught a mayfly, dobsonfly and an uncased caddis.Once we had a look at the bugs we went back to the river to put them back.We walked back to the shed to eat morning tea.We ate and then went outside to play.
Our next activity we thought was orienteering but that was our last activity.Instead we went to bush and beetles.We went through the bush to a river.You could either go through the river or along the path.I chose to go through the river but I got wet shoes and socks for the rest of the day.We got out of the river and started walking through the bush again.We stopped to look at fungi.It looked pretty.We talked about fungi and why we need it.We moved on and came across some wetas.They crept me out.We talked about wetas and then moved on.Jan showed us a dead cat.I couldn’t bare to look at it but I did.It was so sad.We started heading out of the bushes.
Our last but definitely not least activity ORIENTEERING!My favourite activity of the day.Mr Corlett explained the maps, then off we went.Georgia was in charge of the map so we followed her.She wouldn’t listen to me when I said “Stop so we can figure out where we are,” but nooo she decided to keep going.By the time she relized that there was nothing there, we had gone about 2K out.We came back and Mr Corlett told us where we went wrong.In the end we had taken a wrong turn at the beginning so this time we went on the right track and got the numbers 7,8,9,10,11 and 12.We got back and since we were the last group we had to bring all the equipment back.
We got back to the bus and it was very crowded again because we were the last ones back.There was one seat spare so I sat on Georgia’s knee and it was so annoying because she kept bouncing me.We got back to school, the bell had already rung so I walked to mums work and off we went.I told mum how amazing my day was.

Whakarongotai Marae
On Thursday Waikanae school walked down to Whakarongotai Marae to represent our tukutuku panels, our treasures. The Kapa Haka group went in first to greet the rest of the school onto the marae. Six people carried the tukutuku panels in. Mr Campbell said a few words about the panels and the Kapa haka group sang a couple of songs and lots of people got tired from standing. The Tangata Whenua said some words too. After the Powhiri our class left so we could come back later to do some fun activities.
When we got back to school we had morning tea then we lined up to go back to the marae. There were 5 different activities. They were, Photos in a cardboard canoe, weaving fish and stars, making booklets and colouring, making matariki lanterns and Taonga puoro made out of rulers and string. Me and Cara went to go make a booklet.The booklet was a mihi.Then we went to the weaving but nobody helped you so we just made springs out of paper.Then we went to the matariki lanterns and we didn’t have much time to make them beautiful but we finished them.We walked back to school talking about how fun the trip was.We had a fantastic time.

Beach
Beach
The sound so sweet as the waves crash down on me.
The water so cold as it washes over me.
The salty taste of the sea as it goes down my throat.
I hear my name being called because it’s time for lunch.
As I lay down on the bright yellow sand I watch the seagulls go swooping by.
The sky so blue and the clouds so white.
The beautiful shell on the top of our sandcastle the water come in and washes it away.
The sky went dark and the stars came out, it was the perfect day to come to the beach.

Lolly Pop
Lolly Pop!
Once upon a time in a land called candy cane there lived a boy called William Lolly pop.
He dreamed about inventing the most extraordinary lolly in the world since the only thing they had in candy cane was candy canes. So he set to work making the extraordinary. He made… almond joy, airheads, andes mints, aero chocolate bar, bazooka bubble gum, butterfinger, butterscotch, you name it and he’s made it all except one he really wanted to make. A Lolly Pop! He didn't know how but he devoted all his time. He was boiling and bubbling until at last he made a… lolly pop! He was sooo excited he made more and more all different shapes and sizes. So that is how the lollipop was made!

They are afraid but they called upon all their courage as they walked in.Georgia, Karen, Joe, Daniel and Me sat on the five death seats waiting for us.
The master of this horrid place called school asked us if we knew what we were doing here.Honestly I had no idea but I nod my head anyway.He repeated it out to us while we freak out.He told us about how we punched other kids in the face.I am so scared right now.I never knew how bad it was until he told us about it.I never saw THIS coming.
He said he wasn’t going to chop our heads off and expel us, he just said we were going to have a little pain and suspend us for two weeks.How cool is that.Luckly he didn’t chop our heads off and send us to summer school.PHEW!
When we got out of the death chairs and the evil master said something like badbye I think.Anyway when we got out of that horrid place called school I got back safly home.My parents were so mad they actually called the evil master a good princapal.Thats not right.Anyway i had so much fun being home alone with my friends down the street for two weeks.Until I heard a knock on the door…
I open the door and the evil master was standing right there.He knows where I live.Everyone is going to die.”Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”I screamed so loud that my friends started screaming with me.He said that it was time to go back to school.I was actually excited.So the next day me and my friends played happily ever after at school.
